The Capital Development Agency (CDA) has decided to repair and renovate Faisal Mosque — a major attraction and an icon of the federal capital.
At a meeting, the CDA chairman issued instructions to the departments concerned to prepare a project concept (PC-1) for a complete and comprehensive renovation of Faisal Mosque. No renovation of the Faisal Mosque has been carried out in the last four decades. Parking areas as well as toilets at the mosque are in a dilapidated condition. Yearly, the federal government releases funds for the upkeep of the mosque, however, they are not enough for comprehensive maintenance of the mosque.
The CDA has decided to allocate a budget to the tune of Rs200 million for the renovation and repair of the mosque.
Moreover, a separate directorate will be created that will have a complete team for horticulture, maintenance, electrical as well as civil works.
Meanwhile, the private contractor of Faisal Mosque has been replaced after his workers allegedly misbehaved with people during the Eid holidays. The CDA staff has been deployed at the mosque.
