PESHAWAR:

A record number of people visited Peshawar district during Eid holidays and most of them came to the city to visit Peshawar Zoo.

Official sources told The Express Tribune that around two lakh people visited the zoo in the three days of Eid.

The large number of visitors caused a traffic jam on the road leading to the zoo. The influx of people also caused problems for the zoo administration as youngsters attempted to torture animals especially lions. Many were arrested and fined.

The large number of visitors to the zoo also indicates that there is a dearth of recreational points in the city and province.

“A large number of policemen, traffic police and security guards have been deployed as the large number of visitors was expected,” said an official of the zoo.

Family Park Peshawar, Shalimar Garden and Shalimar Garden also attracted thousands of visitors due to the pleasant weather.
