LWMC lifts 19,300 tonnes of solid waste

12,000 workers were deployed in field during Eid holidays

The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has lifted around 19,300 tons of solid waste from the city during Eid holidays and resolved 186 public complaints received on the company’s helpline.

LWMC Chief Executive Officer Rafia Haider highlighted that the company carried out a special cleanliness operation between Chand Raat and the third day of Eidul Fitr as per plan.

The LWMC teams remained alert in the filed during Eid holidays to ensure cleanliness in the city.

She said making cleanliness arrangements almost everywhere includes, commercial markets of the city, graveyards, surroundings of recreational areas, parks, mosques, Eid ghahs, open plots, major and minor road, walled city, etc.

The LWMC deployed all possible resources, including 12,000 workforce and machinery, in the field during all three days of Eid.

She said special cleaning arrangements were made at all major parks across the city, LWMC mobilisation teams continue to provide cleanliness awareness to the visiting citizens, washing and cleaning of 175 major mosques and Eid venues was completed before 6am on Eid.

More than 223 cemeteries in the city were cleaned and water was sprinkled on the access roads.

Mechanical sweeping and washing of all major roads of the city was also ensured before Eid.
