‘Gangnam Style’ hitmaker announces new single produced by Suga from BTS

The Korean musician behind the 2013 viral sensation Gangnam Style is all set to release his latest single in collaboration with Suga from K-Pop group BTS. That That will be the title track off Psy’s upcoming album Psy 9th. The song is all set to arrive this Friday, April 29, along with a music video.

Psy has been teasing the release for some time now, with the latest clip showing Psy in a town in the Wild West dressed in a cowboy outfit. The musician runs towards the camera as sentimental guitar music plays in the background. He eventually falls and the screen fades to black.

Psy, who is an established name in the South Korean music scene, said about working with younger artists such as Suga, who has produced the track, “When meeting younger artists, I don’t want to be someone who’s hard to approach.” He added, “[Suga] wasn’t just my junior in the business, but also he truly feels like a friend. It was hard to feel any age gap.”

Suga shared that he was “nervous” working with Psy, sharing, “He’s many years my senior and someone who's so well-respected in the business.” However, the BTS member explained that it actually “felt like working with a childhood friend, so it made the songwriting process that much more fun”. He added, “We became besties in a way.”

Psy 9th is set to be the Gangnam Style hitmaker’s first release following a five-year absence from the music scene.
