LAHORE:

Police have arrested three people in connection with the death of a teenager who had been working as a maid at a house.

The victim, Muskan Bibi, had been brought to the Children’s Hospital after she had been reportedly fallen unconscious at her employer’s house. The doctors who attended Muskan Bibi at the hospital observed deep marks of torture and some old wounds on her body.

They immediately informed the police about their observations. Police arrested the person who had brought Muskan Bibi to the hospital who told the police that he worked as a driver for a  person identified as Qadeer.

Qadeer lived in Gulberg in Ghalib Market police limits.

Police also took Qadeer into custody who told them that the victim worked at the house of Ahmad Shakeel Bhatti at Temple Road.

Police have arrested all three suspects and also registered a murder FIR.

The body of Muskan Bibi has also been moved for autopsy.

Muhammad Akram, the father of the deceased, said that his daughter had been working at the house of Ahmad Shakeel Bhatti at a monthly salary of Rs10,000.

Bhatti would regularly allow Muskan Bibi to talk telephonically with his father.

However, for the last few days he had not been responding to his phone calls. He told the police that Bhatti phoned him two days back at midnight and told him that his daughter was critically ill and that he should take her home.

When Muhammad Akram arrived at Bhatti’s home, he learnt that the driver of Bhatti had driven her daughter to the Children’s Hospital after she had fallen unconscious.

Akram told the police that his daughter had marks of torture on her body. Akram had also expressed his apprehensions that his daughter might have been raped.

DIG Dr Abid Khan said that police were investigating the matter.  In another incident in Nishter Colony, body of a maid was found hanging from the ceilings in the house of her employer. A police team moved the body to the morgue for autopsy, collected forensic evidences from the scene and recorded statements of the eye-witnesses.

According to initial investigations, the victim was frustrated after having been scolded by her employer.

Police said that the cause of the death would be ascertained after autopsy and further investigations.

In yet another incident, parents of a maid allegedly leveled false allegations against her employer.

The SP of Cantonment, Essa Sukhera, said that the incident of sexual assault did not happen. The maid’s parents had attempted to trap the employer over the issue of the maid’s salary.
