A paperless, digital challan initiative was introduced in South Punjab to ensure transparency, reduce traffic rules violations and facilitate citizens.
In a ceremony addressed by SSP Headquarters Syed Muhammad Abbas Shah on Wednesday, it was stated that digital challan system was introduced in Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalpur divisions.
Information Technology interventions are playing a key role in easing day-to-day affairs. Thanks to digital facilities, the traffic police will have access to databases and information related to NADRA and Excise Department.
On this occasion, a complete briefing regarding digital challan system was given to the participants. The digital challan system is expected to bring matchless transparency, SSP Shah stated.
Earlier, three-page paper challans were issued, which were transparent, but officers had no access to records. Now, officers will have information about drivers’ previous violations.
Drivers will accrue negative points on their record with each violation. The step will help reducing traffic law violations.
