Decomposed body of missing schoolboy found

Arrested suspects confess to rape, murder of teenager

HYDERABAD:

Police claimed to have arrested the suspected killers of a school student who was found dead in a desolate area of Dadu district on Thursday. Sahil Ghangro, 17, had gone missing on April 12.

The police and family of Ghangro, a student of class 10, believed that he was subjected to rape before the suspects hit a hard object on his head and killed him.

According to B-Section police station SHO in Mehar Town of Dadu district, the police have arrested two suspects who were the last persons seen sitting with the boy at a restaurant.

The SHO Kabil Bhayo claimed that both the arrested suspects, identified as Rasheed Dahar and Sheeraz Abro, confessed to their crime in the initial interrogation.

"They gave some sedative to the boy before subjecting him to sexual abuse and then killed him by hitting a stone on his head," the SHO told the local media.

He informed that the incident's First Information Report (FIR) will be lodged as soon as the family visits the police station after Ghangro's burial. He said the body of the boy had decomposed and it was difficult to identify that it was Ghangro.

DIG Hyderabad Peer Muhammad Shah has taken notice of the incident and directed SSP Dadu district Irfan Samo to ensure that the family of the slain boy gets justice.

The local legal fraternity has also sympathised with the family. Led by Mehar Bar Association President, Abdul Haleem Bughio, the lawyers also staged a protest against the heinous crime on Thursday. The lawyers demanded that the section of Anti-Terrorism Act should also be inserted besides the charges of kidnapping, rape and murder. Bughio said crimes like robberies, killings, rape and kidnappings have become frequent occurrences in the town.

Police continue to move at slow pace in investigating the cases which ads to the misery of the victims and their families.

Azhar Ghangro, father of the deceased boy, decried that the police acted slowly. He suspected that some other persons besides those arrested are likely to be involved in the rape and murder of his son.

The boy's body was taken to the ta'aluka hospital for postmortem before it was handed over to the family for burial.
