Officials urged to take step for dengue prevention

ADCG says public awareness necessary to avoid life-threatening disease

There is a dire need to be aware of the dangers of dengue in the current season and adopt measures to stay permanently safe from it, said Additional Deputy Commissioner-General (ADCG) Mehreen Baloch.

She was addressing a meeting regarding preparation for dengue on Saturday. Officers of all departments concerned. The health department presented the reports of the previous weeks during the meeting.

The official directed officials of the department to take precautionary measures for the prevention of dengue. This deadly disease has already caused loss of life in many parts of the country and we must be careful. All methods should be used to create awareness about the diseases.

Baloch said, “Epidemic diseases can be controlled only through public participation so it is important that the public be made fully aware of this so that they can help the government in this regard.”

She added that monitoring and draining of standing water are necessary for all areas. Citizens should be advised to also do the same when encountering bodies of water, they should also immediately inform the concerned departments to make arrangements.

People should take all precautionary measures to protect themselves and their children from this deadly disease, she said, adding that wear full-sleeved clothing in this mild climate and use mosquito repellent lotion.

Baloch advised people to take special care in the evening hours and to avoid the danger of mosquitoes. She said, “Do not allow standing water in your home and keep the environment clean and dry. Immediately empty dry flower pots and other items in the house where there is a possibility of standing water.”
