CJCSC, Turkish army chief discuss regional security

ISPR says Gen Nadeem Raza and Gen Yasar Guler reaffirmed the resolve to forge deeper strategic ties

Chief of General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces General Yasar Guler on Thursday called on Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Nadeem Raza at Joint Staff Headquarters, Rawalpindi, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

"Besides security and regional issues, particularly the latest developments in Afghanistan, matters relating to enhancing the level and scope of bilateral military engagements and cooperation were discussed," the communique added.

The military's media wing further stated that both sides reaffirmed the commitment, that being ‘all-weather’ friends, Pakistan and Turkey would continue to forge deeper strategic ties.

"Earlier, upon arrival at Joint Staff Headquarters, a smartly turned-out tri-services contingent presented ‘Guard of Honour’ to the visiting dignitary," the ISPR concluded.

Earlier this month, the CJCSC held wide-ranging talks on bilateral defence cooperation with dignitaries from Kenya's defence forces.

Besides security and defence cooperation, matters related to enhancing the level and scope of bilateral military engagements in various fields were discussed during separately held meetings.

"Both sides reaffirmed their commitment for strengthening and enhancing existing defence and security relationship between the friendly countries," it added.

Kenyan dignitaries remained appreciative of the high professional standards of Pakistan armed forces, their achievements in the fight against terrorism and continued efforts for regional peace and stability specially for peace in Afghanistan.
