Baqir lauds growth of housing finance

He was speaking at an awareness drive of the scheme held in Faisalabad on Monday

The number of applications for financing under the Mera Pakistan Mera Ghar scheme and their approvals are consistently on the rise and banks are green lighting over Rs4.5 billion and disbursing around Rs2.3 billion every week, said State Bank of Pakistan Governor Reza Baqir.

He was speaking at an awareness drive of the scheme held in Faisalabad on Monday.

According to a statement, Rs357 billion worth of applications for financing of affordable housing have been received out of which, Rs157 billions have been approved and Rs56 billion have been disbursed.

Beneficiaries of MPMG scheme are receiving financing at a fixed and subsided rate as the government is providing subsidy for this underserved sector.
