Railways forms track maintenance teams

Initiative taken to improve passengers’ safety, renovate infrastructure

The Railways Department has formed teams for better implementation of maintenance work.

On the orders of the Railways CEO, Zafar Zaman Ranjha, DS Railways, Rahat Mirza has designated teams of Divisional Engineers at levels one, two and three to improve train safety for passengers and to check the maintenance of fit plate, gates and signal systems, weak tracks and broken sleepers in Lahore division.

The engineering teams will also be responsible for replacing broken sleepers. All Divisional Engineers will be required to send weekly reports of fit plates on their track to DS Railway.

According to the details, DS Mirza took practical steps to ensure passenger safety and instructed all Divisional Engineers to replace damaged sleepers in a timely manner to prevent damage to railway tracks.

They will maintain awareness of wherever there is a damaged sleeper on any section of track and are instructed to replace it as soon as possible. All Divisional Engineers will be required to fit the track according to their schedule.

The Railways Department will also check the maintenance of railway gates and signals system while fitting the plate of the track so that there is no hindrance in train operation and passengers can arrive safely at their destination and travel by train with comfort and convenience.
