Opp decides to move no-trust motion against KP CM

PPP says 45 PTI MPAs are in contact with opposition

ISLAMABAD/PESHAWAR:

An important meeting the opposition parties’ heads was held at Opposition Leader Shehbaz Sharif’s residence in Islamabad, wherein they decided to move a no-confidence motion against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan soon.

The meeting, which was presided over by Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) President Maulana Fazlur Rehman, took stock of the current political situation, particularly the aftermath of the submission of the no-trust motion against the federal government in the National Assembly (NA).

Sources disclosed that the meeting discussed the another no-trust move, this time against the K-P CM, and agreed on it.

The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) assured the alliance of the support of 45 provincial lawmakers of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Sources said that a number of ruling party’s provincial legislators were ready to jump ship and join the PPP. A four-member parliamentary group of the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) has already announced its separation from the PTI government.

Earlier, addressing a press conference in Lower Dir, PPP K-P Chapter President Najmudddin Khan said that the joint opposition had decided to file the no-trust move against the provincial chief executive to oust PTI’s government.

The provincial president said that opposition parties, including Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Awami National Party (ANP) and PPP are on the same page when it comes to the no-trust move.

He also said claimed that they opposition had the support of 45 MPAs from PTI, and the motion would be submitted after the voting on the same in NA.

On the other hand, KP CM said that the PTI government enjoyed public and parliamentary support in the province, and the no-trust move would be defeated.

In a statement, he said that PTI was united under Prime Minister Imran Khan’s leadership, adding that the party’s popularity had increased manifold.

CM Khan was of the opinion that the premier had brought opposition’s politics to an end, and they were making efforts to save face.

He said that the incumbent government would not only complete its tenure but it would also be re-elected in the next elections.
