OIC's 48th session holds special significance for Pakistan: FS Sohail

The session will coincide with the 75th anniversary of Pakistan's independence

ISLAMABAD:

Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood on Friday underscored that the 48th session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers holds special significance as it coincides with the 75th anniversary of Pakistan's independence.

The secretary apprised heads of the resident OIC Missions of the ongoing preparations for the 48th Session of the OIC Council, to be held in Islamabad on March 22 and 23, 2022.

The foreign secretary stated that the “people of Pakistan are looking forward to welcoming the honoured guests on this auspicious occasion”.

Secretary Sohail highlighted that the theme of the session would be, "Partnering for Unity, Justice, and Development" which represents Pakistan's commitment to promoting unity within the Ummah, advancing the cause of justice for all Muslims, and promoting inclusive and sustainable development for OIC member states.

Guided by this vision, Sohail said that Pakistan seeks to build bridges of cooperation and partnership amongst OIC members and beyond.

The Foreign Secretary added that all heads of delegation will be invited to witness the traditional 'Pakistan Day' Parade on the 23rd of March as guests of honour.
