Theft Allegation: Employer accused of assault

Workers say their owner allegedly assaulting them after falsely accusing them of theft.

FAISALABAD: Two workers at charpoy making unit on Sargdha road in Usman Town say their owner allegedly assaulting them after falsely accusing them of theft. Amjad and Sabir said the owner detained them at his dera and beat them up a few days ago. They added when Amjad’s condition worsened due to the severe beating the owner sent them away with his men who dumped them outside Amjad’s house. They complained that the police were not registering a case against the owner because he was influencial. “We have lodged a complaint but the police men have refused to register an FIR,” they said. The owner, meanwhile, refused that he had beaten up the two or detained them illegally. He said the two workers with their accomplices had stolen wares worth Rs5 million from his godown.
