Sindh govt neglects Karachi: IT minister
Almost 95 per cent of the revenue generated from Karachi was being utilised by the Sindh government, said Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Aminul Haq on Monday.
He was speaking at the All Science Conference 2.0 jointly organised by Arts Council of Pakistan (ACP) Karachi and Beacon Light Academy.
ACP President Muhammad Ahmad Shah, Dr Ataur Rehman, and Khalid Ashraf were also present at the occasion. Haq said that 95% of the revenue, generated from Karachi, was being utilized by provincial government.
He said that Karachi was completely neglected by the Sindh government while the federal government had launched mega projects in the city.
The minister said the city's development was the responsibility of provincial government under the 18th Constitutional Amendment. However, the federal government has initiated mega projects in Karachi including public transport, sewage treatment and others.

Haq said the IT exports of the country had grown to $2.1 billion during his tenure and target had been set to reach $3.5 billion. Haq said MoITT made efforts to improve the connectivity and ensure broadband facility in far flung areas. He said smart phone manufacturing has been started in Pakistan and development of cheap smart phones was being ensured.
Professor Attaur Rehman from Karachi University also addressed the audience.
