Claims suspect involved in target killings of police, political rivals

The Karachi Police Counter-terrorism Department (CTD) cell for tracking and catching target killers arrested a suspect during an operation in New Karachi in the early hours of Monday.

According to a statement issued by the CTD calimed that Fazlur Rehman alias Fazlua was a most wanted terrorist of Sunni Tehreek.

As per police, Fazlu was involved in targeted killings of police and other people. He was incharge of the Lines Area target killing team and former unit in-charge of MQM.

The arrested accused has been involved in killings in the city since 2011.

According to the accused's criminal record, in 2011-2015, he was involved in several cases of target killing, police encounters, murder, and attempted murder and has been on the run ever since.

The accused, along with his accomplices, killed Adeel, owner of Habib Sweets Lines Area, in 2011 for not paying extortion.

In 2012, Salahuddin, an MQM worker, was shot at by the accused and his accomplices in the Lines Area. In 2012, MQM councillor Babu Reid was targeted and killed by the accused and his accomplices in PECHS. ASI Ali Mohsin Naqvi, a police officer, was killed in 2012 by the accused and his accomplices when he returned from school after dropping off his children.

In 2012, a police mobile of Brigade police station was attacked by the suspect along with his accomplices. In 2013, the suspects looted vehicles and set them on fire during a strike.

The suspect was handed over to the relevant police authorities for further legal action.
