KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court has sought arguments on the admissibility of a petition regarding allotment of land of Sachal police check post at Rs100 per square yard.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Syed Hassan Azhar Rizvi heard the petition regarding claim of ownership of land of Sachal police check post.

The petitioner's counsel contended that a police check post was set up on our land in Sector 45A of Scheme 33, therefore, an order may be passed for closure of the police post.

Justice Rizvi remarked: "First tell, how this land was allotted to you? How did you get state land without auction? What is the harm if a police post is set up on the state land?"

The petitioner's counsel argued that in 1992 his client had bought the land at a rate of Rs100 per square yard.

The court remarked: "How did you get this land at Rs100 per square yard? How can the Sindh chief minister allot this land?"

The petitioner's counsel contended that the land was allotted in 1992. The court inquired whether the Sindh CM had the authority to allot the land.

Justice Rizvi remarked that first the petitioner has to satisfy the court that the land was allotted to him legally. The court sought arguments on the admissibility of the petition.
