KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has ordered demolition of a five-storey building, constructed illegally in Gizri area.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Syed Hassan Azhar Rizvi heard the petition. The court was furious at the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) officials for not taking action against illegal constructions.

A penthouse has also been built on the roof. "I have been transferred recently to the South Zone," said the SBCA inspector. At this Justice Rizvi asked, "Where were you posted before that?"

The inspector replied, he was posted in District Central. "How many illegal buildings are there in Nazimabad and Liaquatabad areas? Did you ever give any notice or demolished any building?" inquired Justice Rizvi. On this SBCA inspector remained silent.
