In separate incident, woman dies under mysterious circumstances

A woman committed suicide after consuming acid at her father-in-law's house within the jurisdiction of the Sadiqabad police station on Monday.

According to police, Ali Asghar said that his son called him informing his sister Talat Bibi has been rushed to a hospital as she had consumed acid. “When I reached the hospital, my daughter told me that her husband, Amjad Ali, had asked her why she had not served food to his mother, and beat her black and blue. She got extremely upset, drank acid and died,” he added.

A case has been registered against Talat Bibi’s husband.

Meanwhile, a case of a woman’s mysterious death has been registered at Chauntra police station.

According to Constable Asif Javed, Zahoor Hussain along with his family members had shot dead his wife Jamila Bibi in his house for unknown reasons and termed it as a suicide, saying that Jamila Bibi was mentally ill, under the possession of demon and witchcraft.

The deceased was immediately given a funeral bath to wash away evidence. Later, locals were informed about her death. Her funeral was also announced immediately.

After hearing information about the incident, the police reached the site, upon which Zahoor Hussain asked them the reason for their visit.

Zahoor Hussain told the police that nobody killed Jamila and that she had committed suicide.

The family members of the victim were told that a team from the Punjab Forensic Science Agency would visit the scene and should not be hindered while they do their job.

As soon as the team of the Crime Scene Unit reached the site and started taking photographs of the woman’s body and carry out other procedures, Zahoor Hussain and his family became enraged and stopped the officials from their work. The family members of the deceased then created a ruckus, took the body away forcibly and buried it in the cemetery.

Due to the difficulties encountered by the crime scene unit, the team was unable to complete legal proceedings and returned.

Police have registered a case and started an investigation.

Gang busted

Police arrested three members of a gang who were allegedly involved in looting citizens of millions of rupees through cash machine fraud.

According to a police spokesman, Taxila police identified the suspects as Imran, Farhan and Khalid, who were experts in using modern information technology and used their skills to loot people. They added that the suspects have a record in cyber-crime.
