CBD receives $700m investment proposal
The Lahore Central Business District Development Authority (LCBDDA) has received a $700 million investment proposal for Pakistan’s first LNG-based power plant.
The proposal was submitted by a mega engineering firm, Techno Engineering Services (TES), to build Pakistan’s first LNG-based power plant for the Central Business District (CBD).
The captive power plant is aimed at embedded generation of uninterrupted power supply for Pakistan’s most anticipated business hub. The engineering firm intends to install a 150-megawatts (MW) LNG plant which will use the ‘waste heat recovery’ process by reusing heat energy.
The CBD Punjab has always backed cost-effective and eco-friendly initiatives and LNG power plant fulfils theme of the CBD Punjab eco-friendly approach, an official said. The LNG is considered to be the cleanest fuelling source which doesn't emit soot, dust or fumes and produces insignificant amount of sulphur dioxide making it very environment friendly.

LCBDDA CEO Imran Amin said: “Our aim is to provide best possible eco-friendly utilities to residents across the CBD Punjab. Acquiring investment proposal from renowned engineering firms, like TES, is laudable. It is evident that CBD Punjab has paved the road to enlist Pakistan in first world countries.”
Keeping in view the deteriorating air index, these eco-friendly utilities are a step towards a greener and breathable Punjab.
The canvas of CBD Punjab is massive which will be coloured by sky scrapers, ultra-high-rise buildings and architectural masterpieces. Considering the weather conditions of Lahore, a District Cooling System (DCS) is also proposed.
