Single day Covid tally falls

4.97% was the nationwide positivity ratio in past 24 hours

ISLAMABAD:

The single day tally of fresh Covid cases fell below 2,500 level for the first time in a month while the national positivity ratio also came down to less than 5%, according to the daily update issued by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Wednesday.

The NCOC– the nerve centre of the government’s unified effort to contain the spread of the pandemic – said that 2,465 more people tested positive for the coronavirus during the past 24 hours. It added that the national positivity ratio was 4.97%.

However, despite the pandemic on the wane, the death toll during the past 24 hours was high, according to the data. The forum said 49 patients breathed their last overnight, raising the total number of fatalities since the pandemic’s outbreak in February 2020 to 29,877.

During the last 24 hours, the forum said 4,792 Covid patients made full recovery from the infectious disease, taking the number of total recoveries to 1,388,517. The NCOC added that the number of active cases declined to 73,029, including 1,534 patients in critical condition.
