Man burnt alive in his vehicle

Police have decided to conduct a DNA test to identify the body

RAWALPINDI:

A man was burnt alive when a fire broke out in his car near Neela Sand Kotli Sattian on Wednesday.

Rescue 1122 workers reached the spot and shifted the body to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Kotli Sattian.

Rescue 1122 official said that the man suffered 100 percent burns and that he was not identifiable. The cause of the fire has yet to be ascertained, he added.

Police have decided to conduct a DNA test to identify the body. During the autopsy, DNA samples were obtained from the body. Police said that the affected vehicle has been taken into custody and shifted to the police station. Further investigation is underway.

In another incident, a couple fell unconscious when a fire broke out in a five-storey residential building near Car Chowk. A Rescue 1122 spokesman said that an empty flat caught fire due to a short circuit. The entire building was filled with smoke due to a lack of ventilation, he said, adding that dozens of occupants of the building escaped the premises observing the smoke.

The official said that rescue teams reached the spot and put out the fire in time. The team also conducted a search operation in the building after the fire was brought under control.
