Veteran singer Asha Bhosle resorted to her archive of childhood pictures with her late sister, the legendary Lata Mangeshkar. Sharing a picture of the sisters as kids, Asha reminisced the years they spent together in an emotional post on Instagram. The picture was posted on Sunday a few hours after her sister’s state honoured cremation.
In a whirlwind of memories and nostalgia, Bhosle posted a black-and-white photo featuring a young Mangeshkar, with a flower in her hair, sitting with her. "Bachpan ke din bhi kya din the (What a wonderful childhood it was). Didi and I," the 88-year-old singer wrote.
From sisters to collaborative artists, Bhosle and Mangeshkar shared glorious memories in both, their personal and professional lives. The duo has over 50 duets together under their names in their careers spanning eight decades. Some of their popular songs include Main Chali Main Chali from Padosan, Mann Kyon Behka Re from Utsav and Band ho Mutthi To Laakh Ki from Dharam-Veer.
Mangeshkar, the colossal vocalist who dominated playback singing in Bollywood for nearly three-quarters of a century, passed away in Mumbai on Sunday, February 6, reported The Indian Express. She was 92.
She was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 2001 for her contribution to Indian music, more particularly in films, had been detected with Covid-19 on January 11 and had to be admitted to Breach Candy's ICU. Her sister confirmed the death to PTI.
