MANSEHRA:

The Mansehra police conducted an operation in the district and arrested four members of an inter-provincial car lifting gang on Thursday.

During a press conference held at the city police station the other day, Mansehra Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Sajjad Khan said that the police arrested the car lifters. “We also recovered 10 vehicles and 10 motorcycles from their possession,” he added.

The DPO said that the gang was involved in the theft of vehicles in the district, in addition to robberies in Hasanabdal and Attock. They recovered vehicles worth millions of rupees from their possession.

The DPO said that in the past few years, the police had dealt with numerous cases of car lifting and arrested several individuals in Mansehra. He added that the theft of valuable cars and motorcycles not only deprived their owners of their savings, but also disturbed their peace of mind by plaguing it with insecurity.

The arrested members of the gang were identified as Mazhar Sarwar, a resident of Kakul; Haji Ramzan, a resident of Mirpur; Fazlur Rehman, a resident of Butt Daryan; and Kashif Ali Asghar, a resident of Ogra.

The DPO, after completing all legal formalities, handed over the keys of the recovered vehicles and motorcycles to the owners.
