Govt forms body to fight TB

The federal govt envisages a TB-free country by 2035

ISLAMABAD:

The federal government has greenlighted the establishment of a strategic technical advisory group consisting of health professionals from across the country to ensure prevention of tuberculosis.

According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Health on Friday, the formation of the body was approved by Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Faisal Sultan.

The advisory group includes health professionals from government and private hospitals as well as universities across the country.

With the constitution of the body, the federal government envisages the complete eradication of tuberculosis with the aim to end to rid the country of it by the year 2035.

On the directives of SAPM Dr Faisal Sultan, Dr Abdul Wali Khan, who is deputy national coordinator TB, formed the strategic technical advisory group consisting of health professionals from across the country to end the prevalence of TB as per the government’s commitment.
