Publishers announce 60% discount, gifts for women and children on closing day

KARACHI:

Monday (today) is the last day of the 16th five-day Karachi International Book Fair held at Karachi Expo Centre. The exhibition has been running successfully for the last four days.

On the fourth day, there was a rush of students and citizens at the fair. According to an estimate, more than 100,000 people visited the International Book Fair on Sunday.

The book fair was attended by Sindh Culture and Tourism Secretary Abdul Rahim Soomro, Directorate Private Institution Sindh Registrar Rafia Javed, assistant commissioners of different districts, political, literary, religious and social personalities besides foreign diplomats.

Speaking to media on the occasion, Tourism and Culture Secretary Abdul Rahim Soomro said that activities like book fair play an important role in eradicating extremism among the youth. Meanwhile, Chinese citizens also took special interest in the book fair.

At the fair, children were interested in books of poems and stories, including textbooks. While a large number of women also kept coming to the fair.

Citizens who attended the event said that the unique thing about the book fair is that under one roof, books of all historical, literary, textbooks, stories and poems were available. More than 50 publishers have announced a 60 per cent discount on books on the last day (today) and many publishers have also arranged special gifts for children and women.
