Two accused of beheading father arrested

Sons were said to have been enraged over their father’s decision to divorce their mother

Police have arrested two brothers, along with their mother, in Sheikhupura on the charges of killing their father.

The accused were identified as Arsalan Sohail, his brother, Ghulam Haider, and their mother Najma.

According to police sources, the accused have confessed to their crime which was said to have been committed in June this year.

During the interrogation, the sons of the victim, Ghulam Sarwar alias Ballu, said that their father had divorced their mother Najma Kausar and threatened to build a wall to partition the house and remarry on which they got so angry that they tortured their father in the house, tied his hands and feet, hired a car and at midnight they forced their father into the car and drove off.

One of the two brothers drove the car while their mother took the front seat so that no one would find them suspicious. The other brother sat in the back seat pointing a gun at his father to keep him from making an attempt to escape, the investigators said.

They drove all the way to Gujrat via the GT Road in search of a deserted place. They found one near Mouza Kaliwal Syedan where they pulled up, threw their father out of the car and shot him in the head. Not being content with having shot their father in the head, they even cut his head off and drove away.

Police Station Saddar Lala Musa staff found the body of the victim near Mouza Kaliwal Syedan and started investigation. In addition, fingerprints of the deceased were sent to NADRA for identification.

In view of the seriousness of the incident, the DPO of Gujrat, Omar Salamat, formed a special team and directed them to investigate all aspects of the incident.

Once the police managed to identify the victim through NADRA records as Ghulam Sarwar, they interrogated various suspects and close relatives of the deceased.

In addition, investigations were carried out on modern scientific grounds which helped the police track down the accused.
