HARIPUR:

A woman gave birth to a child on the ground of one of Haripur’s biggest government hospitals, in the freezing cold weather.

According to sources, on Tuesday morning a man brought his wife to the hospital and she fell on the floor due to severe labour pain. No nurse or medical staff came to help her until she gave birth to the child on the freezing floor.

Her husband and family members made many hues and cry, after which the staff shifted her to the general ward once her condition started to deteriorate.

The hospital sources said that the incident took place due to negligence on the part of the nurses on duty, as they did not provide a bed to the pregnant woman in the gynecology ward, despite availability. They added that no gynecologist was on duty at the hospital at night and this incident took place before 8am.

The woman’s relative alleged that the nurses did not provide treatment because they were poor and the nurses shifted the woman to the general ward only after they begged them.Meanwhile, her husband and relatives have demanded an inquiry into the incident.

This scribe contacted MS of the hospital Dr Mohsin Raza, but he did not respond.
