Briefing the meeting, the district population officers apprised participants that the Population Welfare Department (PWD) was taking steps to make people realise the importance of birth spacing. In this regard, an awareness campaign is also being run among the people. The participation of scholars in the awareness campaign is being ensured. The officer said that controlling the growing population was the need of the hour. He directed that every effort should be made to convey the message of the PWD to the citizens and coordination should be established with the health department to control the population.

He said that the health staff already in the field could be instrumental in conveying the message of population welfare to the people.

He pointed out that in order to form a welfare society, it is necessary to maintain balance in population and resources, therefore, maintaining balance in population and awareness of social and economic disadvantages of growing population is also important.
