Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Saturday directed a satire towards the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) saying the “party with a dark history” was “seeking the establishment’s support”.

Taking to micro-blogging website Twitter, the information minister, while referring to PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif noted that those who waited for “deals to return to country always remained political dwarfs”.

In a veiled reference that the PML-N was “seeking the establishment’s support”, Fawad tweeted: “PML-N is waiting to polish the boots but no one is offering them the service.”

He stated that “Sharif’s era had ended” and that the party had a “dark history” in the country.

Separately, while addressing a cake cutting ceremony held in connection with the 145th birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Christmas, Fawad said Prime Minister Imran Khan was striving to materialise the dream of the country’s founder, who wanted to make Pakistan a true Islamic welfare state.

“The Naya Pakistan we talk about today was actually the dream of Allama Iqbal which Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah after its inception wanted to materialise,” the minister said.

He said that Quaid-e-Azam wanted to ensure protection of the minorities’ rights adding that it would be protected at “all cost”. He observed that PM Imran was carrying forward Quaid’s mission who had envisioned Pakistan as an Islamic welfare state.

“All steps taken by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government are reflection of Quaid-e-Azam’s vision.”

The ceremony was attended by Minister for Human Rights Dr Shireen Mazari, Defence Minister Pervez Khattak, National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri and senior party leaders, including Aamir Mehmood Kiani and Senator Saifullah Niazi.
