Zardari vows to confront de facto ruling elite

PPP co-chairman says will pitch tents in Lahore

HYDERABAD:

Pakistan Peoples Party Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has said that he is going to confront the de facto ruling elite of Pakistan by taking them head on in their stronghold in Lahore.

"I am going to Lahore where I will pitch tents and confront them," Zardari said in Tando Allahyar district on Thursday.

He did not clarify whom he will be challenging in Lahore politically because Islamabad’s seat is of the federal government. Lahore is generally considered a stronghold of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz. "They won't stop unless we confront them there [in their bastion].

"They are one and the same who sometimes put on one appearance and at other times, some other appearance," he said without specifying anyone.

"God willing, we will confront them next time. There will be a war against them led by the people,” he said. “The people will win that war."

Some problems are going on between the PPP and the federal government. "In politics, the problems continue to exist."

Zardari said the people ought to move forward, adding that the PPP’s governments have been delivering for the poor people for a long time.

He credited his government for building roads, channels and other infrastructure projects. "The PPP government has planned and executed the projects which aren't even in the imagination of the people.

"I vow and pledge that I will never stop flooding people. People are being exploited for centuries and it is not a new phenomenon. Former prime minister and PPP chairman Zulfikar Ali Bhutto always served the poor people,” he added.

He said the new generation leadership of the PPP led by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Aseefa Bhutto Zardari will continue to serve the people.
