A delegation of the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) called on Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry and State Minister for Information Farrukh Habib and apprised them of their concerns about the new digital media policy including fair distribution of advertisements and issues pertaining to the regional newspapers.

Hailing the new digital media policy, the CPNE delegation noted that current CPNE member publications should be registered by default under it.

The information minister agreed that the member publications would be registered by default under the new media digital policy.

Fawad said the government would extend full support if any media organisation wanted to go through the process of transformation.

He said the information ministry would promote liaison between its officials and media outlets.
Fawad lauded the role of CPNE in protecting the rights of journalists saying strengthening of regional press would benefit the country.

He said the government would provide a loan of up to Rs1 million to digitalise newspapers and that the information ministry would extend help in the whole process.
