Army Public School martyrs remembered

One-minute silence was also observed in honour of the over 140 martyred students and teachers of the institutions

HYDRABAD:

The academic institutions and the civil society of Hyderabad and other cities of Sindh on Thursday commemorated the martyrdom of students and teachers of the Army Public School, Peshawar, in the brutal attack by militants on December 16, 2014.

The Sindh University Bureau of Students Tutorial and Guidance Services (STAGS) held a commemorative event where Director Ghazala Panhwar reiterated the message to the affected families that the whole nation stands with them in solidarity.

Prof Dr Syed Javed Iqbal, Dean Faulty of Arts, praised the anti-terrorist combat led by the Pakistan army. He recalled the December 16 incident and expressed sadness over the way innocent children were martyred.

Earlier, one-minute silence was also observed in honour of the over 140 martyred students and teachers of the institutions.

The Liaquat University of Medical and Health SciencesVice-Chancellor Prof Dr Ikramuddin Ujjar, at an event at his varsity, said the nation can never forsake the grief and trauma suffered by families of the martyred children. “Blood of the APS’s children became a guiding torch for the entire nation.”

On the occasion, the participants lit torches in memory of the victims.
