Actor and singer Meesha Shafi attended a court proceeding in Lahore for a defamation case filed against her by Ali Zafar. A case was heard against Shafi in Lahore Sessions Court as part of a defamation suit filed by Zafar.

Post proceeding, Shafi while speaking to the press, stated recently that following her high-profile sexual harassment case against Zafar, many women in the showbiz industry approached her with their own experiences of harassment.
She was also reported as saying that her case was misreported and that she incurred heavy financial losses during the process.

The singer explained that she appeared before the court and was present during case proceedings. The court adjourned the proceedings due to the unavailability of Shafi’s lawyers.

While addressing the media in court premises, Shafi revealed that following the case, several women in the industry, who are yet to come forward with their experiences, reached out to her. She explained that out of respect for their privacy, she will not be naming these women.
The singer further added that she is committed to the truth and that she believes the outcome of the case will be good and in her favour. Shafi asserted that she had been present when she was summoned by the court. She stressed that she was never asked to be physically present in court before.

Mohsin Alim Qazi | 2 years ago | Reply Very keen to see an early outcome of the case. Judiciary must conclude this case in the interest of truth in a reasonable timeframe. Unfortunately the case is a merry go round. It is quite disconcerting that this time she was present and lawyers were absent. Next time lawyers will be present and she will not be there. Bottom line case will linger on forever.
