'Quetta wind’ brings temperature down

Gusts of cold winds from the north-west, popularly known as ‘Quetta wind’ have started blowing in the city as the westerly weather system entered the north and north-western regions of the country on Wednesday.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 10.8 degrees Celsius on Wednesday morning with wind velocity of 16 kilometres per hour.
Wind speeds are expected to rise further today (Thursday) and minimum temperatures could be recorded in single digits over the next 24 to 48 hours.
Effects of the westerly weather system are already being felt in the in the port city known for its mild winters.

Winds from the northeast of Balochistan began blowing in the city on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday due to which, the temperature dropped on Wednesday making it the coldest morning of this season so far.
The coldest place in the country during the last 24 hours was Ziarat, in Balochistan with a temperature of -10°C. After travelling over 800 kilometers from the freezing mountain tops, the freezing winds becam a mild breeze of 10°C blowing at 16km per hour.
Wind speeds are expected to rise further today (Thursday) and minimum temperatures could be recorded in single digits over the next 24 to 48 hours.
