British-Pakistani actor to make Bollywood debut with Ranveer, Deepika

Zoha Rahman, who played the first Hijabi woman in the Marvel film 'Spider-Man: Far From Home' will star in '83’

British-Pakistani actor Zoha Rahman is all set to appear in the highly anticipated Ranveer Singh-starrer '83. According to a press release, the actor will be seen playing a first-generation immigrant in the United Kingdom. 

Rahman can be seen in the teaser of the film, in which she appears seated in the bleachers in the middle of the nail-biting moment during the 1983 World Cup match between India and West Indies in which the former emerged victorious. 

“It’s an honour to be part of such a huge project next to some of the greatest stars of our time,” Rahman was quoted as saying in the press release. “It’s definitely one of the most exciting experiences of my life,” she added.  

The actor also played the first Hijabi woman in a Marvel film in Spider-Man: Far from Home. She is also a part of the Apple TV+ production Foundation.

‘83 revolves around “the match that united India,” – the country’s iconic win against West Indies in the 1983 World Cup, with Ranveer Singh starring as cricketer Kapil Dev. Sharing the teaser on his Instagram, Ranveer wrote, “The greatest Story. The greatest Glory. ‘83 releasing in cinemas on December 24, in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. Teaser out now. Trailer out on November 30.” 

The film also stars Deepika Padukone, who plays Dev’s wife Romi Bhatia in the film. The couple has previously worked together in numerous hits, including Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat.
