Police find remains of elderly man kidnapped 5 years ago
The remains of a differently-abled elderly citizen, who had allegedly been kidnapped five years ago, were found during the digging of a house in the Chaudhry Waris Khan area in the Jatli Police Station jurisdiction.
The owner of the house was earlier nominated in the kidnapping case and he had been arrested by the police.
The case against the suspect was registered in 2017 on behalf of Shanakt Ali who had told the police that his younger brother Ashiq Ali, who was hearing and visually impaired, was living in the Chaudhry Waris Khan neighbourhood with his sister.
According to the complainant, before leaving his sister, the victim had told his sister that he was going to purchase dates with Nadeem Darzi.
However, he did not return. When Nadeem was inquired about Ashiq, he said that from the market, he went somewhere.
The police had registered a case but could not trace the victim for five years.
A few months ago, Nadeem Darzi sold the house and the new owner of the house carried out digging for the underground water tank and witnessed human bones and immediately called the police.
Gujar Khan DSP Tahir Kazmi reached the site with the forensic team and took the remains of the body into custody. The victim’s brother, who is living in the same neighbourhood, identified the ring and artificial teeth of his victim. The police moved the remains to the hospital for a post-mortem and arrested Nadeem Darzi again.
The Gujar Khan DSP said the post-mortem of the recovered body will also be conducted, even though it had been identified.
He added that all aspects will be taken into account while investigating the case.
