Police nab three alleged drug peddlers
The police have arrested three drug pushers and recovered more than 3kgs of drugs from their possession.
The Saddar Barooni police confiscated 1.42 kgs of hashish from Saleem Khan, Rawat police recovered 1.12 kgs of hashish from Muhammad Asif, and Bani Gala police recovered 1.70 kgs of hashish from Talha Masood. The police have registered separate cases against all the accused under the Narcotics Act.
City Police Officer CPO Athar Ismail appreciated the performance of the police team, adding that strict action must be taken against elements plaguing innocent members of society. “Protecting the youth from drug consumption is a top priority of the police,” he added.
Separately, the police have arrested four gang members for lifting motorcycles and recovered nine stolen bikes, besides Rs46,500 from their possession. The arrests occurred within the jurisdiction of the Race Course Police Station on Wednesday.
The accused include gang leader Bilal Tanveer, Wasim Akram, Umar Zeb and Hamza Naeem. Tanveer, alias Bali, was already wanted due to his alleged involvement in miscellaneous cases. The police have registered separate cases against all of them, and further investigation is underway.
The Potohar Superintendent Police (SP) congratulated the Cantt Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), the Race Course Station Head Officer (SHO), and the rest of the team on the arrest of the accused.
The SP said that strict action must be taken against elements plaguing society, adding that the accused would be challaned with solid evidence and will also be punished. “Those accused of robbing innocent civilians at gunpoint would not escape the grip of law,” he added.
