Two alleged robbers shot dead by villagers

One of suspects was history-sheeter with previous criminal record

Three alleged robbers entered into a house, but the neighbours got alerted and killed two of them while the third was arrested in an injured condition.

Police said among the alleged robbers killed was one who had had a previous criminal record.

Three alleged armed robbers climbed over the wall of the house of Kamran on Jaranwala Road at the dead of the night.

Meanwhile, the neighbours came to the rescue of the household members after hearing their cries for help and opened fire on the alleged robbers, killing two of them and injuring the third.

One of the deceased was identified as Noor Jappa, 35. The identity of the other deceased could not be known.

The “robber” who survived was identified as 40-year-old Ramzan.

DSP of Khurrianwala Mian Khalid, confirmed that the two robbers had been shot dead by the villagers.

Noor, one of the alleged robbers, had killed a man earlier for which he had been sentenced to death which was later commuted into life imprisonment.

He had been released after serving his sentence.

As for his accomplice, police had obtained his fingerprints to identify him.

A case had been registered on the complaint of Abid.

Police are investigating the case.

Last month, an alleged robber was killed in an “encounter” in Chichawatni.

Reportedly, Station House Officer (SHO) of Sadar, Jahanzeb Wattoo, along with a police team, was patrolling near Kotla Adib Shaheed when the cops signaled three suspects riding a motorcycle to stop.

Instead of stopping, the suspects opened fire on the police and tried to escape.

The police returned the fire and started chasing the suspects. Upon receiving a report of the incident, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Akmal Rasool Nadir, along with SHO of Kaswal Police Station, Hafiz Athar Rashid, reached the spot with more cops.

The two other suspects took advantage of the darkness and escaped.

In exchange of fire, a “robber” was killed.

He was identified as Waseem Kanjan, a resident of Tandlianwala Tehsil.

The suspect was wanted by the police of five districts in 48 alleged cases of robberies and attempted murder.

A police constable had been killed in an encounter with two robbers in the Data Darbar area in Lahore in August this year. The whole incident had been captured by the Punjab Safe City Authority (PSCA) camera.

Police Constable Muhammad Ramzan was part of the team responding to a rescue call at 15 by a citizen about a robbery.

A citizen, Mubashir Rasool, said he had been riding a motorcycle and when he reached near the Grid Station in Bhati Gate area, he received a phone call from his wife.

As he stopped to answer the call, two unidentified robbers intercepted him at gunpoint and looted valuables from him. The suspects also opened fire while leaving the crime scene.

The victim made a call to police helpline 15 and described the details of the incident. A police team responded to the call. The suspects on foot were running away when Police Constable Muhammad Ramzan along with his colleagues intercepted them.

The suspects had shot at and injured a passer-by over offering resistance a few moments before the police teams arrived.

The suspected robbers opened fire on police. Ramzan received a bullet injury and was shifted to a nearby hospital where he died.
