Reckless drivers kill four in separate incidents

People responsible for these deaths were driving their vehicles at high speed with no regard to traffic rules

KARACHI:

A senior journalist, Masood Sattar, and three other people died in separate accidents on Friday.

Reckless driving continues unchecked by the traffic police in the city resulting in fatal accidents daily. On Friday, four people were killed in separate traffic accidents in different parts of the city. The people responsible for these deaths were driving their vehicles at high speed with no regard to traffic rules.

Masood Sattar a seasoned journalist was critically injured in a road accident near Awami Markaz. He was rushed to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where he succumbed to his injuries.

On the other side of the town, few minutes haste by a man driving his vehicle at dangerously high speed near Sharbat Chowk in the Memon Goth area, claimed the life of 25-year-old Sadiq. The errant driver, instead of stopping to help the critically injured Sadiq sped away.

Chippa volunteers took Sadiq's body to JPMCfor legal formalities. Meanwhile, a pedestrian was run over by a speeding vehicle in the Gulbai area. His body was brought to Civil Hospital for legal formalities. Rescue officials said they found nothing on the body to identify the victim. Separately, a man walking along the road near Baqai University Hospital was hit to death by a car. His body was brought to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was identified as 45-year-old Muhammad Miskin. In this regard, Mushtaq, a relative of the deceased, said that the accident took place due to a collision of a speeding car. The driver was arrested by Gadap City Police.
