A suspect was killed and another was arrested in an alleged encounter on the Sunset Boulevard in the upscale locality of Defence Housing Authority. Police also claimed to have recovered weapons from the slain suspect.
Defence police claim that a squad was on patrol at Punjab Chowrangi in the early hours of Friday when they signaled two motorcycles to stop.
However, instead of stopping, the suspects opened fire the police and sped away. The road was empty and the bikers were trying to outrun the police mobile on the straight stretch firing.
The man riding pillion kept firing shots at the police mobile, while the cops were returning fire with SMGs. One of the bullets hit the suspect riding pillion and he fell down near Defence Library.
