Dhok Manshi to have 60-bed hospital

Minister says foundation stone of health facility to be laid in December

RAWALPINDI:

The Punjab Health Department has approved a project for the construction of a new 60-bed mini-hospital in the densely populated area of Dhok Manshi.

The PC-1 of the project has also been approved. The facility will be built at a cost of Rs49.06 million. The hospital will also have a maternity ward for which qualified and senior gynaecologists will be hired.

Federal Parliamentary Secretary Sheikh Rashid Shafiq has provided the funds from his MNA fund, while the health department has also issued a tender for the construction of the mini-hospital.

Sources said that the ongoing tender for the construction of the hospital will be opened on December 6. This project will be completed in 18 months.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Shafiq said that the foundation stone of this mini-hospital would be laid in the last week of December or the first week of January, 2022. He added that Union Council Dhok Manshi is a densely populated area, while nearby areas like Chaklala, Rehmatabad, Scheme III, Gulistan Colony are also thickly populated. Residents of all these areas will benefit immensely from this healthcare facility.

The minister also said that the construction of the mini-hospital will reduce the burden on the city’s allied hospitals because all medical treatment will be free.

Several senior doctors, nurses, and medical staff would also be deployed, and surgeons will perform minor surgeries as well.

Some other facilities such as CT scan, ultrasound, all kinds of tests, X-rays would also be done at the hospital. The hospital will remain open round the clock and a daily OPD would facilitate outpatients as well.
