New investigation team formed in Jokhio murder case
The police team investigating the murder of Nazim Jokhio has been changed on the request of deceased's brother.
The new three-member probe team will be headed by AIGP Finance, Tanveer Alam Odho. A formal notification has been issued in this regard.
Jokhio was killed after being tortured allegedly by an influential person and his men in Jam Goth area of Memon Goth police station. Following the incident, DIG East Saqib Ismail Memon had formed an eight-member investigation team headed by SSP Malir Irfan Bahadur and comprising two SP Investigation Arab Mehar and Altaf Hussain.
On November 15, Afzal Jokhio, brother of the deceased, expressed distrust in the investigation team and requested the Sindh IGP in writing that a joint investigation team be formed for a free, fair and impartial investigation into the murder of his brother. At the request of the victim's brother, on the directives of Additional IG Karachi Imran Yaqub Minhas, the investigation team probing the murder of Nazim Jokhio was changed.

The new investigation team includes Sukkur Range DSP Ghulam Ali Jumani and Hyderabad Range Inspector Siraj Ahmed Lashari.
It is to be noted that in the Jokhio murder case, the police have so far arrested six suspects including MPA Jam Owais while four suspects including MNA Jam Abdul Karim have been granted pre-arrest bails.
