15 names shortlisted for five education boards of Sindh

Search committee interviewed 98 candidates earlier this month

The search committee set up to select the heads of the five education boards of Sindh has finalised 15 names, giving three options for each board.

The panel has sent names selected from the Department of Universities and Boards to the controlling authority ­ the Minister for Universities and Boards.

According to the rules and tradition, the controlling authority will appoint one of the three nominees as chairman for each board.

However, the controlling authority also has the power to object to these names.

It may be recalled that earlier this month, the search committee had interviewed 98 candidates for the post of chairman of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Hyderabad (BISEH), Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Sukkur (BISES), Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Nawabshah (BISEN), Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Mirpurkhas (BISEM) and Sindh Board of Technical Education (SBTE). The interviews lasted for four days. Sources close to Department of Universities and Boards Secretary Private Secretary Naveed Abro told The Express Tribune that for BISEN, Rafia Bano's name is on the top with the highest score of 73.57 marks, followed by Liaqat Ali with 50.71 marks and Hafizullah Abdul Rehman with 43.57 marks.

Similarly, for BISEH Noman Ahsan topped the panel's test and interview with 70.14 marks. Dr Naseeruddin got 57.86 marks and Habibullah Pathan 46.43 marks.

Moreover, for BISEM, Fazilat Mehdi is on top of the list with 67.86 marks, Ghulam Hussain Soho has 49.29 marks and Qazi Arshad Hussain is third with 44.29 marks.

For BISES chairman, the name of Muhammad Alamdar is on top with 65 marks, followed by Abdul Ghani Soomro at 53.57 marks and Sajjad Hussain Talpur 44.29 marks.

The panel conducting test and interviews for the chairman of SBTE gave Qazi Arif 62.14 marks, current chairman of the same board Masroor Sheikh 57.14 marks and Tanveer Hussain of Mehran University 47.14 marks.

It should be noted that BISEH chairman retired after completing his term of office. Meanwhile, BISEM and BISES chairmen are retiring on November 24 as per the decision of Sindh Cabinet. The current chairman of BISES is brother of PPP leader Khurshid Shah.
