Court allows Sharjeel Memon to go abroad

PPP leader has been asked to deposit Rs1m surety to remove his name from ECL

KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court, while allowing Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and former provincial minister Sharjeel Memon to go to Dubai, has ordered him to deposit Rs1 million surety.

 A two-judge bench, headed by Justice KK Agha, heard the plea of PPP leader requesting removal of his name from the exit control list.

Lawyers argued in court that the federation and NAB had no objection to Sharjeel Memon going abroad. The NAB prosecutor said that it was Sharjeel Memon's basic right to travel abroad. Memon should be allowed if he deposits the surety.

in exchange for deposition of surety amount. Assistant Attorney General Irshad Bandhani argued that we have to say the same. Advocate Raj Ali Wahid said that the court has directed not to include Memon's name in ECL till April 1, 2022.

The court allowed Sharjeel Memon to go to Dubai. The court ordered Sharjeel Memon to deposit Rs1 million as bail surety.

Petitioner's counsel Raj Ali Wahid Advocate argued that Sharjeel Memon has been appointed by Sindh government as focal person for the festival to be held in UAE.

 As a focal person, Memon is scheduled to attend the festival from November 15. Memon will represent the Sindh government at the expo.
