KARACHI:

A female polio worker was intimidated while on duty. On December 18, the worker was administering polio drops in KDA flats when a man, identified as Faiq, appeared in front of her without clothes. The polio worker immediately reported the incident to her officers as well as to Madadgar 15.

Faiq was arrested, and a case was registered against him at the Surjani Town police station.

The suspect has been handed over to the Investigation Cell. This incident highlights the challenges faced by frontline workers, particularly women, and the need for increased support and protection.

Bail granted

The judicial magistrate for District East on Saturday granted bail to six persons accused of attacking polio vaccinators in Korangi. The accused - identified as Samina, Mahjabeen, Amna, Iqra Gul, Imran, and Sufiyan - face charges of obstructing the province-wide anti-polio vaccination campaign and assaulting the team.

During the proceedings, the investigating officer (IO) pleaded for a physical remand of the accused. However, the judge rejected the request and instead granted bail to all the accused against a surety bond of Rs10,000 each.

The judge ruled that all charges brought against the accused were bailable offenses.
