KARACHI:

The cricket frenzy even reached the Karachi Central Jail. A large screen was set up by the prison administration to show the live match between Pakistan and Australia to the inmates.

Prisoners chanted slogans in favour of Pakistan during the match.

Jail Superintendent Hassan Sehto said providing a healthy environment to the inmates was one of the top priorities of the prison administration.

The prisoners had requested to watch the semi-final of the World Cup cricket tournament live between Pakistan and Australia and the prison officials completed this by installing a large screen in the Mayo Ward of the Central Jail.

Before the start of the match, there was an air of excitement in the jail and the inmates also danced to the national anthems.

Sehto added that the inner walls of the jail were painted with the sketches of the players and the logo of the PCB. During the match, the prisoners danced on the fours and sixes while they also generously praised the players of the Pakistani team on taking wickets.
