ISLAMABAD:

A high-level delegation of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) visited the Line of Control (LoC) wherein they were briefed about the latest situation on the border, a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Wednesday.

"[Special envoy of OIC on Jammu and Kashmir] Yousef Aldobeay and Assistant Secretary-General Ambassador Tariq Ali Bakheet visited Chirikot Sector of the LoC along with the high-level delegation including five senior diplomats from brotherly Muslim countries including Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Sudan and the Maldives," the military's media wing added.

The delegation, it added, was briefed on the latest security situation along the LoC and situation before and after the DGMOs [Director-Generals Military Operations] understanding.

The ISPR further stated that the delegation was apprised of the humanitarian crisis in IIOJK [Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir] and Indian atrocities, and added that the diplomats interacted with the victims of India's unprovoked ceasefire violations on the occasion.

"Later, the delegation reached Muzaffarabad where they met president AJK [Azad Jammu and Kashmir], followed by a briefing and formal exchange of views on the latest situation. The delegation also interacted with civilians of the area," it said.

Concluding, the statement said that the delegates will visit the refugee's camp and Vocational Training Centre, and will later meet United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) in Muzaffarabad. It would also meet AJK PM and representatives of political parties in the AJK parliament.

At the 47th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) in Niamey, Niger in November last year, the OIC had called for examining and analysing the egregious violations of international human rights and humanitarian standards in IIOJK with particular reference to the Covid-19 pandemic.
