Iqbal Day observed in Karachi
Allama Iqbal's philosophy, thoughts, intellectual discourse and ideological poetry laid the foundation for relations between Pakistan and Germany. Following his thoughts and ideas, relations between the two countries have been steadily improving.
This was stated by Consul General of Germany in Karachi Holger Ziegeler at a press conference held at the Karachi Press Club on Tuesday.
Among those who spoke on Pak-German relations and Allama Iqbal's personality and thoughts were Simone Lenz, director of the Goethe-Institut Pakistan and Dr Tanzeemul Firdous, head of the Urdu Department at Karachi University.
The consul general said that 70 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries are of historic significance. Germany stands with Pakistan in its efforts for world peace.
It is hoped that mutual relations and cooperation in other fields including education, health, economy, culture and sports will increase and with the passage of time the people of the two countries will come closer to each other.
Efforts will also be made to exchange delegations at various levels between Pakistan and Germany and to benefit from each other's experiences. A cake was also cut on the occasion to mark 70 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
