Police crackdown yields 13 arrests

Recovers more than 80 stolen and snatched mobile phones from one suspect

Police have rounded up 13 suspects and recovered betelnuts, narcotics, snatched motorcycles and smartphones from their possession during raids in different areas of the city on Monday.

Malir City police have arrested a suspect and recovered more than 80 stolen and snatched mobile phones from his possession.

The police on a tip-off conducted a raid and arrested Imran Shah at a bus stop. During his physical search more than 80 snatched and stolen smartphones including 36 iPhones, tablets and iPads from the suspect's bag and foiled the attempt to sell them to his contacts.

According to Malir SSP Irfan Bahadur, the arrested suspect has disclosed the names of seven of his gang members. During interrogation, the suspect also confessed to buying the snatched and stolen mobile phones at cheap prices and selling them in different markets of the city after changing their IEMI code.

Raids are being conducted on the information of the suspect and more arrests are likely soon. Information of shopkeepers who were in contact with the arrested suspect is also being gathered.

Airport police have arrested five suspects Sadiq, Anwar, Khalid, Ghulam Sakhi and Muhammad Nabi and recovered more than 60 kg of betelnuts from their possession.

According to police, the arrested suspects were trying to supply betelnut through rickshaws and motorcycles. Police also seized a rickshaw and a motorcycle on which the arrested suspects were supplying the banned items. Police said, the arrested suspects are accused of illegally supplying betelnut despite the ban.

Meanwhile, Sohrab Goth police have arrested four drug dealers Manzoor Burfat, Azmat Ali Lashari, Ali Jan alias Jani Abro and Ajad Ali Rajpar and recovered drugs from their possession.

Arrested drug dealers are habitual criminals and have been arrested in the past as well.

Separately, Baghdadi police arrested two suspects Rasool Bakhsh and Muhammad Saleem, who are involved in motorcycle lifting, and recovered a stolen motorcycle from their possession.

Further, Mominabad police have arrested motorcycle lifter Aamir and recovered a stolen motorcycle from his possession.
